Campus Housing at Vanderbilt University

B+

Spoiled as Freshmen

The Commons (freshman campus built in 2008) are by far the nicest dorms I've seen at any school, and we are so spoiled to get to live there as freshmen. And while upperclassmen dorms are outdated, I loved living in the sophomore Branscomb quad because you are at the heart of campus and completely connected to every dorm there. Also, half the rooms are connected with bathrooms which is great. They are now rebuilding the other half of sophomore housing, so that will be great when its finished but will create some problems until then. Junior/senior housing in Towers is great because its suite-style with own bathrooms, kitchens, and a main room. Morgan/Lewis upperclassmen housing is nice suites also, just in a worse location.

Drug Safety at Vanderbilt University

A-

Drinking Overpowers, Drugs Are Present but More Hidden

Honestly, I think that Vandy somehow does a great job at not having a drug-addicted campus. Drinking is very popular and obvious (i.e. tailgates) but that still has many policies and police enforcement and greek life rules. There's definitely some peer pressure to drink, but if you do not want to you can easily avoid the whole greek party scene, although it dominates and creates the fun Vandy culture. However, drug use centers most heavily on weed, and then upperclassmen frat boys and some rare sorority girls are known for dabbling in cocaine. However, it is never very apparent and isn't talked about all that much. Weed is definitely more visible than coke, but its still not in your face.
