Transportation Benefits Are Great from DU
Transportation at DU is great! The school provides us with RTD passes, which allows us to use the Light Rail, Bus system, as well as recieve a discount on the SkyTrain which takes you back and forth from the airport. You can use your RTD pass to get all over Denver, as well as to Boulder and some surrounding areas.

Lots of Ways to Intern
Currently I do not have any type of internship, but Career Services can work a lot with you to help you find internship opportunities. They help you practice interviewing, writing your resume, and other important job-hunting tips. We also have a really cool program called PINS which allows studenets to do research with a professor based on a topic of their choosing.

DU Does Safety
DU's a really safe campus. We have the Blue Light System, where you can always see the next box that you can call incase you're having an emergency. There is also a DU Shuttle that can bring you back to your dorm late at night. In general, since our campus is fairly condensed within in a few blocks, you're rarely walking around areas that are not super populated. Because we do live in a city, if you leave valuables in your car, it could be broken into, but like any other major city, the simple solution to that problem is not to leave any valuables on the seat of your car.

So Much to Eat, Only Four Years Time
We have lots of close to campus dining options! Illegal Pete's, Chipotle, Noodles, Mustard's Last Stand, Brueger's, Jimmy John's, Zinger's, Jason's Thai, Nova Yogurt, Jerusalem's are just a few of the off campus dining options. All are within about ten minutes walking distance of campus, and everything is very reasonably priced!

Don't Be Silly
At DU, they lay out the policy fairly clearly during orientation that if you're caught drinking in your room when you are not of legal age, then you will be punished. You're first infraction isn't typically a big deal, but if it continues, the consequences become much more severe, and it could impact study abroad. Just don't get caught doing things in your room and you should be fine.

Sunny Days All the Way!
Denver boasts Three Hundred Days of sunshine! Which is pretty awesome, and I love that! Even in the middle of the winter we can get really nice warm days, which is awesome.

Kind of Gross.
Personally I can't stand my school's dining options. I love DU, but the food is definitely not the greatest! The food is definitely not prepared with health as a huge concern. There also aren't a lot of options in general, and if you're a vegetarian or vegan, you really have to get creative. The dining hall food is most definitely the worst option, and it stinks because it's very expensive.
Other options, the pub, salsa rico, nagel hall, the law school are all really good options and I really enjoy the food from there. But avoid the dining halls!

You Don't Have to Participate
I think at every school you can find drugs if you want to find them. Personally I don't think we have a huge drug scene at all, I've never done anything, nor have I felt the peer pressure to do it.

Woohoo for Fitness
Our Atheltic facilities here at DU are AMAZING. We have a state of the art gym, with lots of classes and great machines. Additionally, we have a very nice lacrosse field, soccer field and hockey areana.

All Are Welcome
Greek life is really great at our school. It's not so big that you feel like you have to be involved if your not interested. Non greeks can definitely go to the parties, participate in their fundraisers and activities as well

Not the Strongest Spirit
Our school spirit isn't the highest, but the Undergraduate Student Government is really putting a lot of effort into promoting school spirits. You absolutley have to go to the Colorado College hockey game if you're spirited though!

Yay for Dorms!
I would definitely encourage everyone to live in the dorms for at least freshman year, and I'm definitely having a good time living in them sophomore year as well! It's such a good opportunity to get to know your class, and make a bunch of friends. Most of my friends all came from the dorms! They are fairly reasonably cost, and DU does a good job with housing grants and scholarships. There isn't a ton of room in the dorms, but absolutely you can make it work!

Double Majoring Is So Much Fun!
I'm currently a double major in history and international studies and I love it! I'm hoping to work within the realm of public diplomacy, as well as teaching and doing research, and I hope to receive my PhD in Middle Eastern Studies.
My majors have been awesome for helping me to learn more about what I can do with them, and I love how much the two compliment each other. I love what I learn about, and I think that finding that is so important when deciding what to study.
I feel that I've been exposed to different career options, and I really have no concerns about being able to decide what to within my fields, but rather choosing just one option!

Do What You Want
At DU, the general consensus seems to be that you can pretty much find whatever you want, between the bars and house parties. The emphasis is definitely placed on going out to the bars. People also take advantage of how close we are to Downtown Denver for different film festivals, plays, concerts etc. At the same time there's a big enough group not doing to much of that and I really think that you can find your nitch wherever you want.

No Sophomore Slump
One of the information packets that they send DU parents over the summer is about the Sophomore slump that students can face coming back to their sophomore year of college. The excitement of freshman year and going off to college and getting away from home has passed, and that can sometimes lead to a bit of unhappiness, or drop in work ethic with classes getting so much more difficult. However personally I feel like sophomore year is really where I have been able to come into my own, and a lot of my classmates feel the same way. I've gotten involved with so many different groups, my favorite being the International Student Organization (although I'm just from America), French Club, and my sorority. I would definitely choose to go to my school all over again, the people I've met have been fantastic and I really enjoy the small environment that we have here at DU. It's awesome to run into professors around campus, and I never walk to far without seeing a familiar face. However there are plenty of different classes to take, and always new people to meet. We just get the best of both worlds!

Learning Can Be Fun!
Currently I'm a history major at the University of Denver and it's fantastic. I love the classes, the professors, every aspect about the program and it really works perfectly to my learning style and interests. I also appreciate how small the department is, and it really allows the professors to advocate for you which is awesome. My favorite thing to tell people about how well professors work with us within the history department is how because of some last minute decisions on study abroad, I almost had to drop my history major because of missing a few of the required classes, but my professor offered to work with my independently to make sure that I'd be able to complete the major.
