Will University of Texas - Austin Fit Me
I am a rising junior, African American female. I go to a small college prep school with a graduating class of 64 students. I'm not necessarily sure of my class rank right now, but I have a 3.6 unweighted. I took one AP course this school year, but I have yet to receive my score, but I'm pretty sure I got a 4. My PSAT scores were low for my tastes this year (each in the 600's), but it was my first time taking it. I plan on spending my summer working on SAT prep, as well as ACT, and Community Service (I'm aiming for the President's Gold Volunteer award, which is like 250+ hours)
My schedule for Junior year: AP US, AP Lang, Spanish IV, Pre-Calc, Chem, Anatomy, Eng 11
My PLANNED schedule for Senior year: AP Gov, AP Lit, AP Calc, AP Spanish and either Physics or an AP science.
Extra-Curricular- Sapphira Pearl (community service club) 9th grade, Forensics Team 9th grade, Debate Team founder & President 9th-12th grade (projected), SGA Junior Class Representative, NHS, NEHS, Spanish Immersion Spring Break 11th grade, JV Lacrosse 9th-10th, Varsity Lacrosse 11th-12th (projected)
The reason my clubs aren't consistent is because I changed schools after 9th grade and my new school doesn't offer the same things as my old. While I know that I have to work on my SAT scores, I'm not asking if I CAN get into these schools, I'm asking if I'm a good match. I don't like how small my school is, the school I had gone to before had a graduating class of 550 or so, and I preferred that environment. I'm very extroverted, and the thing that takes me over the edge is that I wrote and published a novel in the 9th grade. I really want to be involved in whatever college I go to and I want to pledge for sure. I want to study either Communications or Marketing. I'm touring 4 out of 5 of these schools this summer, but I just want to know what the environment is like, and if I'd fit.
