NC State Dorms
Living in dorms has both pros and cons. I lived in Tucker Hall my freshman year at NC State. The pros are that youre around a lot of people all of the time. Its fun to be social and go to events with the people who live in your dorm. You get to meet new people that way. Thats how I met my best friends =] Some of the cons are the rules. Some dorms wont let you have guests of the opposite sex. And the Resident Advisors can sometimes be harsh. But other than that dorm life was the best.

Drugs and Alcohol
Our campus police are very strict on students walking around with open containers. Many underage drinking tickets are given out in order to show students that they are not playing around. If you are going to drink dont carry it around campus with you. Be smart. I would say that drugs are not very visible on campus. I have not been in any situations involving drugs

Parking
Parking at NC State sucks! There are plenty of buses that drive students to and around campus though. The permit prices are reasonable. Tickets and fines can quickly add up if you arent careful with where you park. And I would say that it isnt 100% necessary to have a car, but its definitely convenient. Especially if you have an off campus job.
