Dorms Vs. Apartment
Last year as a freshmen I lived in the dorms. I liked meeting a bunch of new people on my floor and it my dorm, but towards the end of the year I was looking forward to moving into an apartment, with my own bedroom and space. I would have to say freshmen year my housing situation was at a C+ and this year it has definitely raised to a B+. I love having more space this year, a kitchen and a living room where I can hang out with friends. I am still very close to campus, which is still very convenient. We pay $485 dollars a month at our apartment plus utilities so this can become very expensive! Living on campus is a great experience, but living in an apartment beats the dorms!

Nightlife!
The nightlife at Iowa State either is very fun on weekends or very boring. A lot of people have over their friends to their apartments. I would say that apartments are more popular in Ames, Iowa than houses. The bar scene isn't very popular at our school, since many of my friends and me of course aren't of age yet. There are many frat hours that have people over as well, but a lot of those places aren't that fun unless you have a boyfriends or really good friends that live in the frat house.

Financial Aid
My parents have filled out the FAFSA forms and we have gotten no money from that at all. My parents both have jobs, but I still need scholarship money for college. Since I am an out of state resident I pay a lot more than in state students pay. That becomes very expensive and that is why I need any scholarships I can get. It would be helpful to my family and I if I could get at least 9,000 dollars in scholarships, to relieve the stress of having me be in college. I know that college is a great investment, but I definitely need some scholarships money to help me out.
