I took two subject tests today. What would be good enough scores to send?

You don't need them

they don't look at them

What score did accepted students have on the ACT?

30

33

30

28

30

28

What about GPA?

4.4 weighted

4.5 weighted

31

This is all so moot because there is such a wide range of test scores and GPA's that might get a student admitted. What IS very important is the merit money that UM provides for students with a COMBINATION of good test scores and high GPA's. My son got into Richmond and UM to name couple. In spite of a 33 ACT and a 4.4 GPA, Richmond did not provide any merit money while UM offered a substantial amount. This made his decision rather easy! Go Canes!

Honors physics or AP environmental for senior year

Depends on your projected major. I would recommend taking physics only because having a background in the subject helped me tons during my first semester.

Physics. It looks better.

Well, what would you prefer to major in for college?

Environmental if you plan on majoring in environmental studies, biology or something similar. Physics if you are planning on a math major or something similar. It is really up to you!

Business/law. So I don't really need either for my major. which would look better on a transcript?

I found physics to be really useful in life...however in my school environmental is regarded as a joke. SO I am a little biased toward physics. But it is up to you

Physics is one of those basic sciences anyway. You are probably going to need to know it at some point during college. I would go with physics.

I completely agree. Although APs always look good on a transcript, that is if you do well in them, advanced knowledge in basic subjects will most likely help you much more in the long run.

I'm scheduling for my senior year. Should I take Spanish next year? I would be in Spanish 5 Honors, or should I take Marketing 2? I am most likely going to be a marketing/business/law major but possibly a minor in Spanish.

Take spanish so you can possibly exempt out of the language requirement (if you will be in the college at UVA) and then you have more freedom to take marketing/business/law classes at UVA

For my senior year should I take AP statistics or CP Calculus? Is calculus important for the college curriculum/do colleges like to see that you took calc?

yes, colleges expect most applicants to take calculus

is it better to take more APs as a senior or do really well in honors classes?

College Admissions Officers will tell you to do really well in AP's.

As long as you maintain a B- or better, AP is the better choice in my opinion. Depends on what you want to major in as well. Honors Chem is better than AP Art History for a science major.

what is a safe SAT/ACT score to ensure acceptance?

2200+/33+ is good, but your SAT score can't get you in alone. you also need a good GPA- about a 3.8 unweighted or a 4.1 weighted- and good extracurriculars.

thank u!

but those are just the numbers you need to be really safe... if you're lower you can still get in.

I was just recently accepted with a 32 ACT and 4.1277 GPA (before first semester this year).

accepted with a 34 ACT 800 on SAT MATH II and 3.92 GPA unweighted

accepted with a 30 ACT and 3.7 GPA unweighted

accepted with 35 ACT, 2330 SAT, and 4.0 unweighted

my bro got in with 1960 SAT, about 3.8 weighted (3.5 UW), and played a sport on junior varsity and varsity for all four years. He had two subject tests, both above 650
