The girls and guys tend to dress and act alike. If you're not one of them it's hard to find a niche to fit into. A lot of them are more into partying and socializing than the academics. If you don't have or come from money that's another issue that will not help you to fit in.

I don't come from money, and I don't wear tights, sperrys, and a northface every day. I fit in just fine, I have found my niche very easily.
