Lack of Interdisciplinary Course Options
Many basic, entry level courses are open only to students who are majoring in the department of that class. An introductory photography class is open only to photography majors, and the only music classes available to non-music students are empty credits that students can pass without attending lecture. Very few interesting courses are available without prerequisites. The english department is lacking, and it is difficult to pursue anything but very general writing. If you are a driven student looking to go to MSU based on the availability of outdoor activities, be aware that you may be sacrificing educational flexibility. That being said, you will find professors who are passionate about their subjects and are willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed.
