Rigorous But Doable
Coming from a somewhat crappy high school, I have found the academics amazing. It is great to be around teachers from the best universities in the country who know what they are teaching and love what they are teaching. Expect to work a decent amount if you're doing a difficult major.

Arlington is Nice, Po-town Not So Much
Arlington which is right next to Vassar is really nice and filled with great restaurants. Poughkeepsie itself is pretty sketchy. I feel safer walking NYC alone vs. Poughkeepsie with three friends.

Overall Good
When I first moved into my dorm room, I thought it was a piece of crap. But as you live in it, it becomes more and more of a home. Even though most of the dorms are old and seem dilapidated, it is something that you grow to love. Each of the dorms has its own personality and type of student who lives there and it is very Harry Potter-esque. After you are a freshman you can move out of the tiny doubles which makes housing even better.

Still a White School, but Definitely Diverse.
Overall, Vassar is still much of a "white and privileged" school. Almost half of the school isn't on financial aid. Despite this, rarely can you tell who is "from money" and who isn't. There are definitely still students of color and people from all around the country which definitely spices things up. When it comes to sexuality, it is definitely very diverse. People here rarely seem stagnant.

Lust Is in the Air.
Lust is definitely in the air here. There is a reason Vassar is on the top ten sexiest schools in the country. Everyone does their best to look good and there is definitely a vibe of sexuality in the air. Guys are generally more well put together than they are in the rest of society, but this could be due to the high gay population. Girls are also hot and have great style.

Finding a good professor can be difficult, but the teachers here know their stuff. Classes are definitely tough!

On Campus Craziness.
Nightlife is bad in the surrounding areas, but on campus Matthew's Mug and the Villard Room are usually great alternatives!

Lax for the Most Part
Vassar treats its students with respect. They expect us to be responsible. Other than the girl (who dealt drugs) that lived next to me, I don't know anyone got in trouble for anything. If you get caught you get educated, its a good system.

Present but Passive
Overall, security is great. The campus is safe, so they don't do much protecting and in reality they only break up parties and give parking tickets. But even with parties and tickets security is understanding, pretty lax, and willing to compromise.

Responsibility First
Overall, Vassar believes that students should be responsible. If you are doing your own thing in a responsible fashion and not harming anyone else, chances are you won't be bothered by the strictness at Vassar. They break up parties when they are loud, write you up if you're smoking in your room (if you aren't smart enough to open up a window and put on a fan) etc. Overall excellent.
