Don't Bring a Car If You Don't Have to

While there is a decent amount of parking at NCSU for student and faculty that have permits, if you're just visiting there is almost zero parking for you. They're more lenient during move in and move out week, but it's still ridiculous the lack of parking that exists. If you park on campus without a permit, you just get a warning ticket from the NCSU police. As for the need of a car on campus, it's not really that needed. If you need anything it's either on campus, in easy walking distance, or a bus can take you to it. If you're a student at NCSU you can get this thing called a Go-Pass for free so you can use public transportation at no cost.
