Life as a Communication Major
I have really enjoyed being a Communications major because i have found that all my professors are extremely passionate about what they are teaching. They are very interested (and are often very accomplished) in their field and it makes you just as passionate in the subject. I also like how they have a very laid back yet informative approach to teaching. They really emphasize hands-on experience and real world exposure to help us learn, we are often taught through media, both new technologies (Youtube and new movies) as well as classic materials. I really like that I get a feel for the field I am in and how I have grown even more passionate about my major because it has been fulfilling. The reading can often be cumbersome and dry but the lectures and discussions are often very interesting, informative, and I learn the bulk of my knowledge from that, not through lectures but from our interactions with it. Overall, I really like the communications program at Indiana because they really help us get a feel for the field and really get us excited about it and give us experience working with it.

Eccentric and Classic All at Once
Bloomington itself is a very dynamic city, there is always something to do here. We are not just limited to the typical frat parties and house parties, in fact there's so much more to it. Bloomington is a surprising cultural hub, which is greatly represented on 4th Street, well known for being a foreign food mecca for foodies. The campus itself has so much to offer, between all the different cultural houses and activities, to the museums they have sprawled across campus. Bloomington is also great because it celebrates diversity and really tries to bring in the different cultures and get everyone to experience them through festivals and dinners. The campus is also in such a great location, if you walk ten minutes off campus in any direction you will find yourself in a nice town with shops and stores to fill your day. It is a very convenient and picturesque campus and surrounding town. Living in Bloomington is definitely a perk for Indiana because it makes your life exciting and it makes you proud to tell people this is what you call home.

Alright If You Do the Work
The one thing that is a little different about Indiana is that most freshman (unless you're directly admitted into the program of your choice, which is relatively rare) technically do not have a major until their sophomore year. Even if you do choose your major when you apply, you technically are not "IN" the school of your choice yet until you have fulfilled all your general education requirements AND your "school's" requirements. I guess, out of most people I have it the easiest because everyone pretty much trickles into The College of Arts & Sciences without filing the extra paperwork everyone else does, HOWEVER that being said, not only do you have a ton of general education requirements to fulfill before you can even be "IN" your major, The College has even more requirements for you to do on top of that and they all vary depending on your major within The College. It's an easy application process for The College, because there is not one, but actually fulfilling the extra requirements on top of that can seem overwhelming especially if you did not come in with your own credits.
