It's Cold and Snowy in Winter
We live in the midwest, so it's constantly freezing with the windchill and then it snows on top of it. We also have a problem with ice so it can be dangerous walking to class. Usually class gets cancelled once a semester for a cold day or if your teacher commutes.

It's a Once in Lifetime Experience
Throughout the good and bad, it's been an excellent experience in which I would never give up. I have learned a lot and the college has helped me whenever I needed it to.

Aid and Scholarships Were Helpful
I received the amount of aid I needed each year so I never had to worry about filing for another loan.

Uptown Normal Is the Best
There are a lot of places in uptown Normal that are not chains, but really yummy. Medici is one of my favorite places for food, bakery, and dessert. There are some drink specials and an outdoor upper bar area. A lot of fun!

Some Options
There are a lot of places to visit in uptown Normal, like tiny shops and bakeries. There is more that is being added every year and before we know I bet there will be a ton to do. There is also a farmer's market every Tuesday in the summer, which is a lot of fun.

Greek Life Is Not That Big
Greek life is not huge at ISU. If you are in a sorority or fraternity it doesn't mean you automatically get the "in" with parties. Also, it is really only popular if you are a freshmen or sophomore.

Some Diversity Problems
There are many religious based groups on campus and also more liberal groups like the gay straight alliance. These obviously don't get along so it makes it difficult when you have friends from both groups.

Underage Drinking in Dorms Is Strict
I got caught drinking in the dorms while I was a freshmen. It is very strict! The RAs walk around every night so most people don't get away with drinking illegally. I was lucky enough to not actually get in trouble for it because the RAs did not follow protocol, but I knew not to do it again.

Try to Get an Internship
Get in touch with your internship advisor to get an internship either your junior or senior year. It makes a lot of difference because it makes you act more professionally and gets you ready for the future.

MAC Labs Are Good!
The Mac labs are the best because they have mostly updated software and there are usually people there to help. They do get crowded around finals and midterms so you have to get there right when it opens.

Dorm Had Cockroaches
I only lived on campus for one year because I had the worst experience. We lived near the garbage room and got cockroaches. I was freaked out and didn't want to live there anymore. Most of the perks were good, but that experience ruined it for me.

Many Opportunities for Study Abroad
If you want to study abroad there are a lot of people that will help you figure out where you can go as well as how to get financial aid for it. I would recommend going out of the country if able to.

Think About Your Decision
Many of the realty companies try to pressure you into signing for a new place for next year in September (when the school year just started!) This may cause people to sign for places that are not in their price range or too far from their classes. They always have places available so don't think you need to sign too soon.

Permits Help
Many people who live off campus or commute to school buy parking permits to park in the many lots available. This is often the best idea because if you park at a meter or somewhere you are not supposed to, you will get a ticket.
