Iowa Safe

Safety on campus at Iowa State University is taken very seriously.The University is well lit and police are on campus at all times.

There are safety buttons every so many feet,that when pushed,the campus police will be there within minutes.

During orientation all these safety precautions are discussed.You leave with a sence of security and safety.

Iowa State Parking

Iowa State University is a very large campus.Getting around to where you need to be is never a problem.The Cy-Ride is always available and take you anywhere.The Cy-Ride will take you around campus and in town for shopping. It runs constantly.

Need a shuttle for the airport? Iowa State will get you there and back.

If you do naad a parking space,there are several lots available around the buildings you need to be in. Parking permits are average and run around one hundred and ten dollars for the year.

Apply for your FASFA early and check department scholarships.

Internships

Be aware that some internships are unpaid.

Look for an internship that will help you get in the door and give you experience in your field you are studying.

I have done an internship at an Equine Veterinarian Facilcilty and Dairy. It was a great experiance. It was tim consuming but well worth it. Responsibilities in an internship for me was alot of golpher work,but that was ok. I was mentored by quality proffesionals and well worth my time.
