Very Good
The campus is very well lit and has several emergency posts. The crime rate seems pretty low, but some people will steal anything which is why the doors must be kept locked. I have never felt unsafe while on campus.

It Tries
While still being a white dominated student population, the university tries to incorporate diversity into many of its classes.

So-So
While a car is not absolutely necessary, having one would make simple tasks much easier, such as grocery shopping. Parking is free in a few lots on the weekends but finding an open spot is always difficult.

Lots of Fun
Central Illinois may not seem like the first place anyone would like to go, but at Illinois State University, the fun never ends. Within walking distance of campus are several stores that are great places to hang out and even read a comic book or two. At night, the local bars rank supreme, and a few night clubs are quite close for that party animal inside. And for an evening without hard partying, Bloomington has an arena that has concerts very often.

Crazy
Tons of clubs and bars to have a good time, and almost too many liquor stores. The real parties are in Junction Place located just south of campus. ISU is quite the party school, so check it out if you get the chance.

Great School
ISU is truly a great school. From the campus town area right down to the library, the experience is delightful. For those who look, a party can be found almost every day of the week. However, take heed, because to pass the classes, studying is required.

Decent
ISU gas a great rec center that was just completed in 2011. It has everything from a swimming pool to an indoor hockey ring. Also, the library has a phenomenal selection of any book fathomable, and if it can't be found, they will order it.

Oh D-D-D-Dear
Well this is something to hide from one's parents. Underage drinking is a huge issue on campus, and most people have gotten a drinking ticket who drank illegally here. Marijuana is another drug that has a pretty large influence in the campus and some people even smoke it in the residence halls where there is very little ventilation. The cops are really trying to crack down on it though.

The weather is great. It is perfect in the spring and fall, warm in the summer and cold during winter. When it snows, the quad looks amazing.
