Life on Grand River Ave.
With the university to the south and a wide stretch of shops and eateries to the east and west, Grand River Ave. is the perfect place for college students and area locals to comingle. The shops are neat and tidy offering items of all shapes and sizes to every type of customer. Also, due to the many international students, the locals get the chance to try all sorts of cuisines on Grand River Ave, from your traditional American burger to the more contemporary sushi of the Japanese. While there is a lot to shop for and eat, one more thing brightens up this stretch of road: the entertainment. From the music coming from the fraternities, to the local street performers, Grand River Ave. is the place to be whenever there is time after class or work. Students and locals blend together and the university looms in the background of the activities while the Lansing capital building can just be seen to the west, a two monument of security and hope. One of a hopefully tomorrow and one of a bigger brighter future, one a monument build to help the locales one to help the students. All of these things can be seen or done on Grand River Ave. where a student can forget to be student and the locales can dream back to their college glory days.

Going Greek
The Greeks here are just like most Greeks they do some good stuff, haze their new members, and throw parties every weekend. I enjoy living in a non-Greek way, but I think the Greeks are great. They do a lot of good things for the community and are always there when someone needs a hand. Moreover, while they party, they do not party excessively, never causing harm, just turning up the music and alcohol is never the center of attention.

Snow and Ice
The weather at Michigan State University is great in the summer and spring, but in the fall and winter the cold winds roll in and snow piles up. While the sidewalks are plowed there is still ice and snow in some places and it is almost impossible to use a bike.
