Guys Are Greek – Most big parties occur at the fraternities. If you are a guy (Greek or non-Greek), it is EXTREMELY hard to be let into a fraternity; you either have to be good friends with one of the respective fraternity's brothers, or you must be in that fraternity. Girls are always let in, but guys almost always are seen as invaders, only coming to the frat to steal potential hook-ups. I am non-Greek, but I am dating a guy who is in Sigma Phi Epsilon, and he really loves the laid-back, friendly atmosphere. Most frats are classified by their specific reputation, therefore the brothers of those respective frats are usually judged according to those reputations.

Food Is Far but Yummy – There are a wide variety of restaurants available near campus. However, parking is a pain if you are driving and walking takes about half an hour if you are venturing into Westwood. Besides the transportation issue, the food is good and the facilities are clean. EVERYONE from UCLA goes to Diddy Riese to grab desert. If you visit or plan to attend UCLA, Diddy Riese is the place to check out. The cookie sandwiches are to-die-for and extremely cheap.

Bruins Are Supportive! UCLA Bruins are very into the football and basketball scene. There is a huge variety of IM sports; UCLA even has a nationally-ranked Quidditch team. The Wooden Center is a great place to work out; you are surrounded by people your own age in a very nice, clean facility with numerous machines, a weight room, treadmills, ellipticals, a rock wall, and many, many classes for which you can sign up (including yoga, kickboxing, and pilates).

School spirit is very prevalent on and off campus. Almost everyone has one article of spirit-wear, and people are definitely proud of where they go to school.

Party on Thursdays – More than 40% of the students here are of Asian descent. This is one of the biggest, most sought-after Universities in the nation. If you are looking for a group to which you want to belong, you will find it -- no doubt. There are a lot of hipster kids, frat guys and sorority girls. Parties happen on Thursday nights, which surprised me when I first started here, but it's because most people don't have class on Fridays. Regulations are strict involving noise and alcohol in campus housing, so the flow of alcohol is pretty low there. This is the reason why most guys are in fraternities, because if you want to party/meet girls, you have to be in a frat.
