Greek Life at Goucher College

N/A

Nonexistent

We don't have a Greek life, something that was set in stone for the school at the beginning of time. I personally think that sororities and fraternities would be good here to bring a bit more normalcy to the campus and add some more philanthropy, something that Goucher likes to push.

Transportation at Goucher College

A

Very Available

A lot of things are within walking distance to Goucher, like the Towson Town Center, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, the public library and even the shopping center that contains stores like Target and Wal-Mart. If you need to go to another college/university in the area or downtown, you can hop on the Collegetown Shuttle, which is free. You just swipe your card and you're good to go. In my experience, it is a pretty reliable mode of transportation, although it is rather bumpy.

Health & Safety at Goucher College

A

It's Safe, but People Need to Grow up

Last year, there were some incidents in the library where laptops were stolen, but I feel that you run that risk when you leave your belongings unattended (although that is not to say I don't do it as well). Public Safety and/or Community Living go around to each dorm room and leave a flyer on the whiteboard reminding you to not leave your room unlocked. The T (Welsh Hall) is a big spot for vandalism; last year, the gate between The T and Stimson was broken, someone vomited in the common room, another group of students pulled the fire alarms and set off the fire extinguishers in the hallway, and one of the windows in the stairwell was shattered with a gun of some kind. A few similar incidents have happened with the library windows, including one shattered window there over the summer. Two years ago, there was some vandalism to a hut built for a Jewish holiday. However, while walking at night around campus alone, I have never felt unsafe. People usually tend to stay out of your way.

Weather at Goucher College

C+

So. Much. Rain.

Our classes aren't really far from the dorms, but if you come here, you need to invest in rain boots or some other kind of waterproof shoes. We tend to get a lot of rain here and the walkways collect puddles. Walking to class with wet shoes is never fun.
