Experiences

I LOVE some of my professors. If it wasn't for them there was no way I would have even bothered to finish passed my first semester. I had a really tough start in college. I was harassed by the veterans and handicap office about my service animal, I was sexually assaulted and sexually harassed (luckily they did something about that) and I was just really depressed, but I credit one professor individually that first semester, and three more in my later years at MSU with my dedication to my education. I have a few limitations, so going anywhere is a bit out of the question, but for a change I finally had some people who thought I was worth something, they gave me confidence and made me want to better myself. THey made me realize that I was better than the fast food job I was working. So as for my college experience, well I guess one could say that it wasn't ideal, but I know that I will walk away from this experience with some very important and influential people that think I am worth every day of effort i have put into my education. But as for Montana State University, they are lucky their teaching staff had the heart to keep me there, because I would have been one of those freshman statistics if i wasn't for those few dedicated individuals. But the University itself sucks, it's parking, it's policies, it's veterans and handicap resources, availability of classes, flexibility of schedules, it's hidden fees.... if I had to do it over again I might not have even chose to go to college after this experience.

Unique?

The program I am in (Sociology and Gender Studies) is the only thing I have ever experienced that sets this university in the A+ pile for me. I have had the benefit of having a WONDERFUL teaching staff to learn under. The Sociology department here is WESOME! I love the professors (with the exception of 1). They have been awesome with my health issues and so understanding when I have had severe health complications. They have taken time out of their days and schedules to bring me up to sped on what I have missed, and personally called me to check in when I am under the weather (as under the weather for me means laying on my possible death bed). They have been loving, caring, and have felt like family in some circumstances. Without them, Especially Tami Eitle and Rozan Pitcher, I would have never gotten as far as I have.
