Basically Average
The Terrace Dining Hall (AU's main dining hall) can definitely become repetitive after a while. However, there's always at least some sort of fruit, sandwich food, cereal, and bread available. The vegetarian cuisine is actually quite tasty! The only things to worry about are weird times of availability on weekends and the distinct possibility of running out of utensils. There are also three other places on campus where meal swipes can be used -- Tavern, Salsa, and Boxed Lunch. Tavern has really good (but fattening) American-style food, Salsa is essentially a poor man's Chipotle, and Boxed Lunch speaks for itself. No matter who you are, buy the 150 block plan. It's the smallest, and you'll still have swipes left over!

Mild With Occasional Rain
In DC, the weather isn't terrible; it rains a decent amount, so bring an umbrella, rain jacket, and rain boots for sure. I think that if it ever snows more than half an inch, classes will be canceled (see snowpocalypse). Overall, the weather is more than manageable.

Yup, It's Pretty Great
American is so great because it's in Washington, DC. It's close enough to downtown that you can be involved in all the action, but we're surrounded by a really rich neighborhood so there isn't a lot of crime. Since we're in the nation's capital, it follows that we're extremely politically active, and we really care about current issues. American is also huge on study abroad programs, international students, and internships, and we have the biggest International Relations program in the country. Even though AU has small issues, it's really and truly an awesome place to attend school -- I would never go anywhere else!
