Am I too liberal for Texas A&M?

I'd love to go for the excellent education for Engineering and also the Corps of Cadets because I'm interested in the Marines after college.

However I consider myself liberal (and at times moderate)because I'm pro women's rights, pro gay rights, as well as an atheist.

I very much feel that this is the only thing that I possibly dislike based on what I've heard at A&M. Would I fit in at A&M?

I couldn't honestly tell you for sure, so my best suggestion would be to visit the campus and do a night with the corps. That way you can get a feel for the atmosphere here. Another alternative, if you can't come down for a visit, try to get in touch with any friends or family that you may know who went or is going here. Good Luck!

No, you'll be just fine. Just be ready to defend your positions and I don't think you'll have problems!

Yes you would fit right in, A&M has many clubs and organizations that you would be able to join in order to express your feelings.

I believe you would fit in at A&M. Everyone is different at A&M, not the same. You have some people that are more liberal than others, while you other people that are more conservative. Just be you. A&M needs more diversity.

There are a lot of conservatives yes. It is Texas after all, but there are over 800 organizations that cater to a variety of different people/interests. My roommate was bisexual and was a leader in the AGGIE ALLIES program to promote equality.

I feel that there is a lot of diversity in thinking at A&M. There are many different political groups that one can get involved in. There is also a very strong LGBT group. I think you would fit in at A&M very well.

Yes, I've only been at A&M for a year but it is a very open and friendly environment. People don't judge you based on your beliefs and help each other out with whatever it is. Also, there are plenty of clubs to fit in with during your time here.
