Local Atmosphere at Connecticut College

C+

If You Seek, You Shall Find

The area is developing into a very unique atmosphere. From the outside and the media coverage, New London comes off as crime-infested and drab. However, there are actually quite a few things happening weekly--from art openings, to free music at cafes, to yoga and dance classes-- and it is easy get on the email list for events. There are lots of places to do community service if that is your interest. In the warmer months, there are tons of beaches to choose from. There are also a good amount of parks and natural areas to explore.

Overall Experience at Connecticut College

A-

Work Hard, Play Hard

Connecticut College is what you make of it. Many people complain because there are a lot of very wealthy people here who may make those of us on financial aid feel inadequate. However, there are so many opportunities to take advantage of. Nearly everyone has a single after freshman year, however most people live in a dorm all 4 years on campus. It's almost impossible to go anywhere off campus without a car, but there is virtually no need to leave campus on a regular basis. If you want to do something at Conn, you can do it. Set your mind to it & work!

Scholarships at Connecticut College

You Can Get Money

Fill out the FAFSA early. You can get a lot of grant money that you don't have to pay back. It is cheaper for me to come to this school on Financial AID than if I had gone to a SUNY (State University of New York) school back home.
