Small, but Charming
I would say that Claremont is an extremely small and very conservative feeling town. It is a pocket of sunshine in a pretty dull part of Los Angeles. Claremont has tons of cute restaurants, a movie theatre, great spas, and some good clothing boutiques. Coming from a big city, it was hard to adjust to a small setting, but I have learned to love Claremont. The people love the colleges and you never hear the "Where is Claremont?" question. Also, it is super close, so there is really no need for a car.

Being a Government Major ROCKS!
I have the best professors in the country, I have internship opportunities at my finger tips, and the classes are actually interesting. Being a Government major at CMC definitely has its benefits. There are always guest lectures coming in to speak to us about what is going on in the country/world. Also, the professors usually have a completely different life outside of the classroom, which allows for really interesting stories. The workload is difficult, so be prepared. Gov professors at CMC, along with the Econ professors, are the most respected, but are also the most difficult. Expect to write about 20 pages every 2 weeks and also learn to love the library. I wouldn't change being a gov major for anything!

Government Major
The gov department is large, but very excellent. The professors are, in my opinion, the best at the college. Class sizes are small (around 15 students)and expectations are very high. I love being a gov major. I love spending time researching topics that I actually find interesting. Also, the professors allow a long of breathing room on topics that you find interesting. the gov department is unique because the professors have amazing connections outside of the school. For instance, my gov professor from last semester is on the board of the Woodrow Wilson Center in DC. He is also good friends with just about every Mexican politician in Mexico. Let's just say, there are connections everywhere. The workload is intense. Get ready to read around 200 pages per night and write about 20 pages every other week. The facilities are the same as the rest of the departments, fairly new and nice.
