Campus Bubble in the City
Being on campus at USC doesn't make you feel like you're in a city, but step off campus to Five Points, or the Vista, and you can definitely tell that the city life is bustling around you. Getting around campus is easy, with the longest walk being about 20 minutes, and that's only for the engineering students. Shuttle services, buses, taxies, and even a new car rental service create so much more accessibility to the rest of the city. If you have time, visit the State House, or the theatre right nearby, and on campus, respectively.

Possible Flooding
While the apartments nearby campus are relatively decent sized, in ok shape, and at a reasonable price, unfortunately, given enough rain, there is a chance of flash floods ruining the lower floor apartments. Granted, South Carolina usually doesn't see much rain, but if any sort of storm happens, driving onto campus is a hassle with traffic, and flooding of streets and apartment complexes is not unheard of.

Pretty Friendly
In general, the students are friendly, smiling if you smile back, and waving at other classmates. Most girls tend to dress in their gym clothes, with running shorts being a staple, and guys have seemed to realize that, yes, people look at what you wear. As a result, the girls seem to be trying less, while guys try more to look decent. Greek life is a regularity, and takes up a substantial amount of time for student who decide to rush, but greek life and social life outside of brothers and sisters are not mutually exclusive.
