Striving for Success
I wanted to come to CMU because I would be able to pursue 2 degrees, one in Biology and the other in Viola Performance. However, this has been hard to accomplish due to the fact that many classes are only offered in one semester. For example in my year, Biochemistry was only offered in the spring semester so if you missed it one year, you would have to wait a whole another year to take the class before you could take it. And these are required classes. There are student help sessions for the more basic classes but as the classes get more advanced, the help sessions drop off. But this is countered by the fact that most of the classes are small and the professors are eager to help you and will work with you to find a time to meet with them.

Half-Price
Coming to CMU, or almost any college in Pittsburgh, there is an awesome thing called half-price dining. Many restaurants will offer their food at half-price after a certain hour, but you will have to check ahead to see if the restaurant does this. Pittsburgh has many good restaurants and a wide variety of cuisines. Also, there are many of the big fast-food chain's like McDonald's, Subway, Chipotle, and Qdoba.

Diversity Is a Plus
CMU is a pretty diverse school, however it is mostly made up of Caucasian and Asian students. People intermingle freely and there a ton of student groups based around ethnicity that have meetings that all students can go to, like ASA, Spirit, and ARCC. Spirit and ARCC put on shows which anyone can audition and be a part of.
