Campus Dining at Southwestern University

B

Commons & Cove

The Commons is the cafeteria on campus. The food becomes very repetitive at times, and leads most people to go off campus to eat. However, it is what one would expect of cafeteria food.

The Cove is the grill on campus. The food at the Cove is actually very good, and it's open until 1am. However, students can't use their meal plans there, and it can become expensive.

Campus Housing at Southwestern University

B+

Sophomore Year Is the Hardest

SU puts a HUGE emphasis on first-year housing. All first years are required to live and campus, and the freshmen dorms are actually very nice.

Sophomore year is terrible. The housing for sophomore year is split between the twin dorms of Moody-Shearn and Herman-Brown. The closet and bathroom space is extremely small, though the room itself is pretty average.

Once you become a junior or senior you live in on-campus apartment style housing. There's not a sense of "togetherness" between the residents, but the apartments are very nice.

Inside Scoop at Southwestern University

A-

A Unique Liberal Arts Education

Southwestern typically goes unrecognized outside of the education world for the amount of work the students do. Students at Southwestern typically have much more work than the state's two top public schools, UT and A&M.

It is not a regional university, but a small private liberal arts college, and the workload is very centered around those values. Classes are always intense, but also very small, and the teachers, advisors, faculty, and staff truly care about you.

There is basically nothing "normal" about SU, it's entirely unique.
