Libraries

I love going to the libraries honestly (kind of strange i know). But when I go to the library I always see lots of people I know because the library, although a place for hard studying, is also a peaceful place on campus to go which is why they are so popular. We have several above average libraries scattered around the campus making it easily accessible from any part of campus. They provide many computers which is convenient and loads of comfortable seating placed nicely in front of windows so I personally never feel trapped inside.

School Spirit

I'm in an international club that socializes with many of the students studying abroad and they have all expressed that the amount of school spirit here is just so much greater than they have ever seen. People wear Gator gear daily, the campus is always painted with orange and blue from all the students clothing. The majority of the students here have tons of school spirit and highly value Gator Sports. Thats definitely one of the many high lights of going to UF

Strictness.. What Strictness?

Other than the fact that a person gets a speeding ticket going 1 mph above the speed limit or the occasional get pulled over while riding a bike from not having the proper lights or not stopping at a stop sign, our campus isnt terribly strict. We have frat parties on campus all the time and they never get broken up, & midtown is the most fun place to go which is practically on campus.

I would definitely say that UF is lenient on campus, thankfully!

Great Food Options!

There is a plethora of food options all in walking distance from the campus! Gainesville conveniently has plenty of dining options that can appease any budget and any taste buds! Most of the establishments understand that college students are going to be frugal and prices are relatively low. The restaurants offer quick service take away food as well as many dine in restaurants with nice outdoor seating perfect for sunny Florida weather:)! The food ranges from pizza parlors, wing joints, specialty soup and salad bars, Mexican, Asian, or frozen yogurt shops all on University Ave. As a vegetarian, it is very easy to find veggie options and affordable prices. Probably the most interesting and less common food that is offered in Gainesville can be found by visiting the outdoor Krishna food booths. A large gathering of Krishna people make heaps of fresh locally grown food vegan cuisine daily and offer unlimited amounts of food and tea. Most people bring their own Tupperware and take seconds or thirds home with them for dinner! Lastly, another great find is the local farmers market held downtown every Wednesday from 4-6pm that supports local farmers and vendors where you can find anything from organic vegetables, cage-free grass-fed animal meats, to delicious breads. Gainesville definitely excels at providing food options with convenience, affordability , and deliciousness all held as top priorities!
