Gamecock Safety
The university is safe although there is a resident hall where they are working to prevent future break ins. Besides that one hall Campus police is always on their game. Our library is 24 hours so if you are there late at night we have a number that we can call to get a ride home from campus police. Also they are always there no matter what way you need them.

Arrive Early
If you want to get a parking spot you better arrive early. I recommend staying somewhere that provides you with a decal because otherwise the cheapest campus decal is $75 and that's only parking near the coliseum. Otherwise you will either pay daily through meters or $250-$280 to park in a parking garage. All tickets are through the City of Columbia, not campus police so it does show on your driving record

Awesome
So far my experience has been awesome. A lot of things to get involved in and new people to meet. It really feels like a family environment. We are the Gamecock family and we live by the Carolina Creed daily.

The academic feel of the University is great. The professors are always available, the curriculum is challenging enough to help students understand, and workloads are reasonable. Although you have to constantly check back for the availability of the courses you want, it is well worth it.

Strict but Respected
Many students would think that putting a limit on partying is crazy. Although at USC Academic days are Monday-Wednesday and party days are Thursday through Sunday (although most people are stuck in the library on Sunday). This is a policy that keeps our students focused but also ready for the weekend. You will not find a party on campus Monday-Wednesday.

Up to Date
We're always up to date. There are plenty of computer labs/public computers for everyone. Especially through our 24 hour library

Weather in the south is always crazy. This year we only really saw 5-7 days of winter weather, but the warm weather is awesome.
