Greeks Are Big Part of Campus Life
There is a wide variety of fraternities and sororities to choose from, and it does seem that many students are involved in Greek life in one way or the other. But if you're not in Greek life, it's not really a big deal. There are some showcases that are really cool.

Variety of Transportation Around Campus but...
The campus buses are great at UConn. They run until midnight and there are a variety of lines to get you where you need to go. There's also Escort, which is a van transportation service for if a student doesn't want to walk from Point A to Point B alone at night. The thing is that they sometimes will send a student to walk you to wherever you need to go. Not fun if it's one of those famously cold winters UConn seems to have. There's also GuardDOGS for inebriated students who can't get home for obvious reasons. Trying to get out of UConn is the problem; there aren't really many choices to get off campus. There are some charter buses that can come in handy, like Peter Pan and Megabus, that will get you to New York City or Boston or Providence. On Peter Pan's end, the rides can get a bit expensive if you're planning on leaving campus often.

Great School to Attend
Overall, UConn is a good school to attend. Most of the professors are very helpful and really know their stuff. Their enthusiasm really is contagious. Dorm life is great, and there's always something to do on the weekends. UConn was ranked in the top 20 for public research universities in the nation according to U.S. and News Report, so that's something to be proud of. Take advantage of the Cultural Centers at the Student Union, even if you aren't a part of that particular race or group. It's definitely worth it and you get to meet a lot of new people (everyone is friendly, trust me!). The free printing and quiet studying spaces in the Cultural Centers are top-notch and refreshing if you're used to studying in the library all the time. Join a couple clubs and find some new passions, or you can even indulge in a few that you already have. Starting a club on campus is pretty easy if you find enough people who want to start it with you :)
