Local Atmosphere at Slippery Rock University

C

Not Much

Slippery Rock is a small town. There is shopping in nearby Grove City and about 20 minutes away in Butler--but otherwise, there is not much here. Non-white culture is null. The attitude towards students by locals is pretty good, but to be honest, I think that people just avoid Slippery Rock until classes are out for the semester.

Academics at Slippery Rock University

B

History Dept

The History department is decent. There are a few really amazing professors, but the majority of professors are either neutral or bad. Internships are possible but there are not that many to choose from; the plus side is, however, that internships are not required for the degree so nobody actually signs up for one. The History classes are held in Spotts World Cultures: a building where it feels like summer even when it is below zero outside!

Nightlife at Slippery Rock University

A

Everyone Loves to Party

The party scene is pretty big at SRU. The Greeks do most of their socializing during parties, and underage drinking is virtually required. There are some people who do not party, and they usually live in single apartments (like Campus Side). The Happy Bus runs at night on Thursday and Friday so that drunks do not have to drive.
