The Single Life!
I have a single as a freshman, as do most of my friends. Gummery is the BEST: less than a five minute walk to anything on campus. People leave their doors open and are very social in the dorm - I usually head to the library when I need to get a lot of work done.
Bathrooms are co-ed, which freaks a lot of dads out at first, but it really isn't a big deal... especially if you shared with a sibling at home. Our Honor Code governs acceptance, tolerance and community which applies to residence life as well - it does, trust me!

Not Much Hard Stuff
Partying is pretty low key. Because the alcohol policy is one of self-governance, you don't have to worry about being written up. If there is any pressure, it is to avoid doing something stupid. If you want to drink, you will find people to drink with. If you want to smoke, you will find that too. In my experience, there is not much else in terms of the harder drugs.

Haverford met all of my need, and met it entirely with grants. It doesn't get any better than that!

Better than Maine!
I am a New England girl, so the weather here is better than I am used to. The leaves still turn and we do get some snow.

So Much to Learn - So Little Time
I came from a pretty rigorous private school, which prepared me well for Haverford. That being said, I am challenged more than I thought possible. But in a really good way. No one here talks about grades - it just isn't done - because everyone is scary smart. But we challenge each other in areas other than grades.

Be safe - you will be fine. The campus is safe, and we have probably the most cohesive community around.
