Academics at FGCU
Upon being diagnosed with Lupus and having to move back home, I transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University to continue my education closer to home. FGCU definitively has a plethora of various academic choices and areas of study to choose from. I appreciated the smaller classroom sizes, with my official seven different majors changes, and the many, many years I have been enrolled now, I have never been in a class with more than 35 students in it and as I finished most the prerequisite courses, and began to registrar/take courses specific to my major, the classroom size significantly decreased to 20 or less. This is ideal because it allows professors to offer more focused one-on-one time with the students, as well as being as accommodating as possible to all student needs. In my opinion, FGCU needs to address the continuous issues with the registration process each semester. Registration is frustrating, however, the orientations provided are extremely beneficial and because knowledge is power, helps reduce student anxiety. Financial Aid that is offered is another area in which FGCU significantly improves each year. Approximately 8,000 of FGCU students are currently receiving some sort of financial aid. The financial aid advisory's do a SPLENDERIFIC job facilitating students needs and providing any resources and/or aid available for student's struggling financially. To summarize, I would state with complete confidence that FGCU improves more and more each year in most every essential aspect.

Thank Goodness for Moms
I moved back home with my best friend, who is my mother, and commuted from Naples. So personally my "off-campus" housing was ideal, however, my opinion is situational. There are a lot of different "off-campus housing" to choose from and FGCU does provide beneficial information about different communities, developments, apartment complexes, and so on and so forth in the Fort Myers/ Estero area.

I Wish I Was Able to Experience College "Nightlife"
I have been bar-tending for going on 6 years, and waitressing and/or cock-tailing for a decade. I usually work about 60 to 75 hours a week, and with school requirements, I forget what having a life feels like. As a bartender here locally, I can state from personal observations from the other side of the bar, the working side, that college students do like to have a good time, and will usually always find a way to do so. Various local bars have specific nights of the week with different offers to make it more affordable to get drunk. Clearly local bars are marketing towards the majority of patrons providing business. Because of competitive deals offered from different local establishments, prices continue to drop, or more offers and/or deals are provided to the patrons. Weekends tend to be blurry.

Hugs NOT Drugs
Drugs are not a definitive issue, peer pressure is basically non existent but the are policy's having to do with drug use at FGCU and drug safety techniques and strategies that are enforced. Alcohol, and over crowded parties is the only issue I have even ever heard about while in attendance at FGCU

Parking NEEDS Improvement
FGCU's heinous parking issues in previous years has definitively improved each year. FGCU addressed these issues and have added new parking structures available for student parking, and have made more parking lots accessible and acceptable for student and faculty parking
