Computers at University of California - Riverside

B

Average

The only computer lab i've used was the one in my dorming facility. It was pretty average. Each dorming student got a certain amount of printing money which was pretty useful. Network speed was up to par. Reliability was a bit shakier, there would be times when the internet was down or disconnected. Wireless access was pretty easy, generally. I personally liked having my own personal computer at all times and used my own printer (although I didn't need to print anything since my classes didn't require essays.)

Diversity at University of California - Riverside

A-

Diversity!

There is a very diverse population at UCR. There are a lot of Asians and Mexicans in comparison to other races, but the other races are still occuring. UCR prides in itself of its great diversity and its capability to deface the challenges and obstacles of having such diversity.

Scholarships at University of California - Riverside

B-

Wished I Received More

The only type of financial aid that I received were loans from FAFSA. I was disappointed whenever everyone I knew had checks coming in the mail for them for financial aid and would spend it on various things. In comparison, I didn't receive that sort of financial aid and had to cut back on various spendings. However, I did receive a Chancellor's Scholarship which only helped a small bit.

The process itself was pretty smooth, you apply and then receive checks in the mail.

Local Atmosphere at University of California - Riverside

D-

Infamous for Boredom

There's not much to do in Riverside. Riverside is kind of known to be a dead place to go. The closest attractions are at least an hour away such as disneyland, the beach, etc. The only things here would be a drive-in movie theater that's about 25 minutes away, an all you can eat sushi buffet (Asahi) that's 20 minutes away, and Tyler mall which is 15 minutes away. Outside of school feels pretty unsafe, so it's rare to venture around town. Most people go home on weekends because there's not much to do. Another frequent activity for UCR students is to hike to the "C" which is a large concrete "C" on a giant hill.

Weather at University of California - Riverside

D

Extreme Opposites

The first couple of months when you first come back to school it's burning hot. You'll be in your apartment, dorm, or library 24/7 just because you NEED air conditioning to stay alive. Same goes with the couple of months when you leave. During the winter time, the night times and other times are freezing. It's a desert, so you get REALLY hot or REALLY cold. Although, there's no snow and rain isn't very frequent.
