Extremely Small and Boring Town
Purdue is a great school, so if you want to come here and don't mind how tiny it is, then by all means do so. However, if you like doing any social scenes: movies, restaurants, clubs, bars, etc then you may want to go somewhere else. The nearest mall is dinky and about a 30 minute drive away. The in-town movie theater only holds 9 movies and they only get big, popular movies so if you are a film buff then you will not be seeing any limited release or independent movies. If you like to go out there are a few decent bars here, but for the most part it is sorely lacking. Restaurants are also very low quality with a few diamonds in the rough.

Nice Campus
Purdue's campus is clean and nice. The architecture is red brick and everything is pretty accessible with the exception of south campus being kind of out of the way. The libraries are great with excellent hours. Most of the major departments have their own libraries which is convenient. The fitness center right now isn't very nice, but it is going through a huge overall that should be done by 2012. The new gym should be really huge and state of the art, but you will be waiting a while.

File Early
Be sure to file early for FAFSA. If you have any questions or problems, go to the financial aid office but don't deal with the student workers, be firm and request to speak to an actual full time employee. You may have to make an appointment but you will get the correct answers. Unfortunately the student workers are inadequately trained and do not always give out accurate information or make the changes that you request.
