Above Average
The local atmosphere in the city of Kent is what you'd expect from a small city. I haven't been downtown often, but the older section is really cool, and they have some nice restaurants in the city and surrounding areas. Halloween is crazy though. It's fun, but be careful.

Just Above Average
The tech people here don't seem too entirely bright. I mean with Mac's they seem to know their stuff, but I still wouldn't trust them with my computer. The labs are solid labs. The internet connection within the labs is well above average most of the time, however, the wireless internet tends to fluctuate often.

20 Feet Means 2 Inches
The big thing I have noticed is that the rule that states you must be 20 feet from any building in order to smoke is not enforced at all. Marijuana and alcohol consumption is said to not be tolerated, but you will see that many people tolerate it like it's no big deal. Noise levels in the dorms, depending on the hall, are rarely, if ever, enforced.

Not the Best Person to Ask
I haven't been to hardly any restaurants in the surrounding area, but I have heard many great things about some places. We do have a somewhat good selection of fast food off campus as well.

Pick Your Day
The sports teams here are average. There is too much fluctuation in the way that they play. Football, for example, may be kicked out of the MAC because we cannot maintain an attendance of ten thousand at the games. The student involvement and fan support varies between those who don't miss a game, to those who couldn't care less.

Know Your Location
Getting a permit is somewhat costly. If I had to guess I would say that a stadium pass is roughly forty dollars. The stadium however, is a good five minute drive off-campus. There are buses that take you to and from the stadium regularly but still. As for parking tickets, just be cautious. Your first ticket is free of charge meant to be a warning. After that it is fifteen dollars. My suggestion is that just make sure you have your pass in sight.
