Chicago and the Roger's Park Neighborhood
While it is true that it is safe to say that its impossible to say that you are bored while in Chicago money poses a huge road block to many students. There is not much going on on the Loyola campus and when there is the events are not attended by a huge amount of students as students at Loyola Chicago tend to be very independent and sort of do their own thing out in the city. There are tons of things to do in the city from museums like the Museum of Science and Industry, the Shedd Aquarium and the Art Institute. Aside from the more touristy attractions there are plenty of fun places in Belmont like Ragstock and the Vic and in Wrigley Ville like Ian's pizza. Chicago has plenty of cultural events and sporting events around the city. The shopping in Chicago is amazing. With the new Topshop and the Magnificent Mile there is pretty much any retail store you would desire. However it can be expensive but there are plenty of great thrift stores like Ragstock in Boystown and Buffalo Exchange in Wicker Park. Also some retail stores such as Topshop offer a student discount. Getting around the city is super easy thanks to the CTA pass included in tuition. In general being safe in Chicago in Roger's park is all about being smart. Don't travel alone at night and try to travel in groups and you should be fine. If you feel uncomfortable campus safety is always willing to pick you up and the 8 ride service that runs within a mile around campus 6pm to 2 am on weekends is super helpful as well. The local attitude towards students in Roger's Park is fairly positive as well as the school is fairly well involved in the community there are a lot of opportunity to do service within the area. Loyola is not a party school. It is definitely a bar school. Hammie's a block or so off campus is where most students go but if you want a typical college party its better to get a group and take the train to either Northwestern or Depaul, although the purple line to Northwestern stops running at 2 am. Chicago is super fun but life in Chicago is expensive, so a job is recommended if needed.

Ok Computers on Loyola Chicago Campus
There is printing and computers available in the Information Commons located next to the library. The IC has both Mac and PC desktops and printers you can print from using Rambler Bucks (money you or your parents put on your card for laundry and such) on your student i.d. card. Some of the dorms also have computer labs as does the student union. The network is fairly poor, its rather slow and often you have to turn off your WiFi repeatedly and turn it back on to get it to work. A personal computer and printer are very useful to have although not 100% necessary.

Transportation at Loyola
Public transportation in Chicago is the best way to go. Every student gets a CTA U pass with their tuition that works with all the CTA trains and buses which can pretty much get you anywhere you need to go in the city and out to some of the suburbs like Skokie. For long distance transportation there is the megabus and Amtrack. It's really expensive to have a car here and not necessarily worth it unless you are commuting from very far. Between the CTA and the Loyola shuttle that runs every 20 min during class times on week days between the Lake Shore Campus and the Water Tower Campus downtown you can pretty much get anywhere you need to go.
