Outside of "The Bubble"
Besides a few bars, restaurants, shops, and the weekend market downtown, the surrounding area isn't all that happening. Students mainly stay on campus because there is rarely much of anything going on close to campus. Downtown is within a few blocks of the college and is easily accessible. During the summer, there are more events that happen within the community and seem to be more available to students. There have been more and more attempts recently to get students involved in the community and vise-versa. Beloit is not a typical college town, at all.

Incestuous.
On this campus, you've got a wide array of people (LARP-ers - bros - bookworms - hippies). Seeing as it's a small campus, it's an incestuous one. Good looks is not what Beloit College is known for, but we make do with what we've got.

Relaxed and Engaging.
One year down, and it's been good so far. Professors, classes, staff, students, etc., have all been pretty great. It's easy to make connections with people on campus, and most people are happy to help out, answer questions, or just hang out. Most classes and professors are engaging and interesting/interested in their students. Courses loads can be rigorous, but professors are pretty understanding if something comes up if you talk to them in advance. I really like how everyone is on a first name basis.

Generous Financial Aid.
Almost everyone I know here has gotten a good financial aid report from the college. Aid is given as needed, but the college makes sure they get you the best deal on tuition. Scholarships and grants are given generously as well, especially during Presidential Scholars weekend (so hop on a plane and come that weekend!). All staff in the financial aid office are friendly and extremely helpful too! Call the office with questions about other scholarship opportunities too because they will help you!

Not Until Senior Year.
Can't live off campus until your senior year. It is required by the college that each student stays on campus for 6 semesters. It's a bit ridiculous, but on the other hand, it is a small campus and there aren't too many options close to campus. Seniors usually get houses or apartments together, and rent is pretty decent. Very few people live far away from campus, unless they are from the area and can commute. The few houses around campus usually throw good parties too.

Not What You'd Expect
3 frats and 3 sororities and 1 'fake' frat. Honestly, they just seem like houses people live in exclusively most of the time, and on occasion, a place to party. Beloit is not really the kind of school that's got a thriving Greek life, but if you want it, it's there. TKE throws the wildest parties of the 3 frats, and Theta is local and has really chill girls in it. The other frats and sororities include: nerds and bros/jocks and their opposite sexed counterparts.

College St. & Maurer/Aldrich Lot
There are really just 2 places to park on campus. College St is a 1-way with street parking and some parking spots at either end. Maurer/Aldrich lot is usually pretty full, but you can always find something. Most students don't have cars, so it's not really a big deal.
