Squirrel Hill
Squirrel Hill has a wide variety of cuisines. It's about a 10 minute ride by bus and has plenty of spaces to park. Rose Tea Cafe is one of the most popular Taiwanese restaurants around. There is also Silk Elephant, one of the best Thai restaurants in close distance. The restaurants are all kind of pricey, but they are a great change from the campus food that we usually get.

Moody Weather
During the summer, it rains sporadically, but when the sun is out, the weather is really nice. During winter, it snows and rains, but there are occasions when the sun comes out. Some of the buildings are interconnected, so once you're in the building, the weather doesn't really matter anymore. However, the walk to and from the academic buildings can be rather terrifying once the weather starts to get cold.

I'm Surprised
When I first applied, I thought CMU would be all about academics, but it's not. There is a lot happening in CMU, including a growing Greek life, intramural sports competitions, and pretty much everything else you can imagine.
