Good Food With a Bit of Diversity
The dining halls are all pretty good for college food. I have been to a few other campuses and am much more impressed with the food available at IC. I work in the Campus Center and know that there is actually some effort that goes into making a lot of the food, and it isn't all just freeze dried crap. The other options on campus are pretty good as well, Sub Connection isn't exactly as good as Subway but on a Friday night it is easy and cheap. The diversity in meal plans also is helpful depending on how much time you have to actually eat in the dining halls. They rotate the menu so they serve something different on a 2 or 3 week schedule each day.

Tcats and Cabs
You can usually get where you need to go, you just need to have a $20 with you to be sure you can afford it. The bus is very reasonable and they have completely reworked the bus system to be more friendly to IC students this year. Cabs are convenient, but they can be an expensive alternative to the bus if you are in a hurry.

Good School, Great People and Professors
I am a Park student so of course my experience is biased. The Park school offers great value, but outside of that my friends all seem to be happy with the value the school provides. For a Private school the tuition is almost reasonable compared to other schools in the North (Boston, Syracuse, Cornell). The professors are helpful, and the technology in the schools is updated fairly reasonably. My freshman year was the year before they updated all of the computers in the schools, which happens about once every 3 years or so. Overall it is a great school especially for Music, Theater, Communications and PT students.

Gym, Library, and Fun
The campus has added a few very odd looking buildings in the last decade or so. The business school and administration buildings are both built to be top of line in efficiency and environmental impact. The athletic center is open at convenient hours, not 24 hours but until 11 during the week. The library is open until about 2am most nights which is great for almost any evening except during Finals week. There are numerous clubs and organizations on campus which are open to all students, including the radio station and T.V. Station through the Park School. If you are looking for activities to keep you busy you will never have to look far.

Come on It's Ithaca
You can find drugs if you are looking for them, but if you aren't you aren't going to see junkies on your balcony. Alcohol and Pot are the main drugs like most colleges. Also during the nicer nights you can see students all around Hookah pipes out in quads and Terrace lawns. The police bust most of the Circle parties by midnight that are bigger. If you are at a party that has any common sense they can stay open later than that, but the best parties are usually off campus. If you can't find anything you like at IC, Cornell is on the other hill and with two ids you can go to Frat parties and drink some yummy Keystone and Andre for free.

A Grab Bag of Weather
I grew up in the area so I know how quirky the weather is. If you are coming from California this will naturally be a rude awakening but anywhere up North especially in New York will have some idea of the Winter. The lake in the area influences the weather some where it could be sunny and not a cloud and then raining in a few hours. I've seen it rain while the sun is out and there are barely any clouds. Ithaca has absolutely beautiful late spring, summer, and early fall seasons you just need to be able to weather the half year winter.
