Public transportation can be kind of a pain around BC, but once you get used to it, it's fine. You can take the shuttle bus to the Reservoir stop on the D-line and that'll get you downtown in about 20 minutes. You can get pretty much anywhere in the city from there, actually. People complain about the bus, but it's not that bad. Also-- don't take the B-line unless you absolutely have to. It sucks.

New England: Get Used to It.
I've lived in Boston my whole life, so I guess the weather isn't that shocking to me. It tends to rain often, and it gets cold in the winter, which takes some adjusting to get used to. It hasn't seriously snowed yet, so I've yet to see how people react to inclement weather. However, it's not all bad... it can be really nice in the fall and spring!
