Texas A&M University Academics had a new discussion posted by insrtplayername

I will be a freshman in college next year, and I am wondering how hard it would be to transfer from the Electrical Engineering department to the Chemical Engineering department after a year or two. The Chemical department was full when I was admitted so I had to be placed in the Electrical, and should this deter me from attending A&M?

absolutely not. So many people start in engineering then drop that you will definitely have a spot if you stick with it.

do you know if there are any requirements for transferring such as a minimum GPA?

Pretend that I got into Carnegie Mellon as a chemical engineering student. If I wanted to join the marching band as a fun club or activity, how easy would it be, and how long do they practice?

Here's the website for the CMU Kiltie Band

I'm pretty sure that they take anyone who is serious about joining. It looks like rehearsals are twice a week for 2 hours. Good luck!

Cool! If I go then I'll probably join.

If I apply as an Early Admit, what are my chances of being accepted?

GPA: 3.93

ACT: 27. but English: 33 Math: 28

I am an Eagle Scout with over 100 hours of community service for 2011, and over 175 for 2012. I was also in the band and have many awards including section leader, 3 time region band member, and 2 time area band member.

I am an attorney at our Teen Court, too.

Texas resident, and from a mid-size town of maybe 120,000 people

My family's income is over $100,000, but I have a twin brother who will also be going to college so how much financial aid do you thing I might get if I were accepted?

Thanks!

zYou sound pretty well rounded. As for your financial aid, you probably won't get much if at all because of your household income.
