Challenging but Supportive
The Economics Major at Bowdoin College is one of the top majors the school has to offer. Although it is very challenging and demanding the professors are always available to provide any extra help neccesary and truly want the best for their students. An economics degree from Bowdoin will put you in a great position to obtain employment in various fields, particularly positions in Finance and Consulting.

What a Small College Has to Offer
Nightlife at Bowdoin is very similar on most weekends. There are a few bars in town you can go to if you are 21+ and Portland is roughly 40 minutes from campus which provides a fun and different nightlife. Most parties on campus are typically held by the social houses on campus or off campus housing. Every once in a while the school will bring in a guest performer that provides a nice twist to the social scene. Some people make their own fun with a small group of close friends and team mates.

Fair
At first I received a great deal of financial aid I was very happy about. If you need it, Bowdoin does an excellent job at providing a need-based financial aid. Applying was straight forward and not too much of a hassel. However, after my step father began working again after being laid off my contribution went up a significant amount, almost $20,000 for the year which led to me having to take out several loans. Bowdoin says they shoot for a no loan policy, but that wasn't the case for me.
