Safe!
I have never felt unsafe here. The University is very good about keeping everyone safe. The only crime I hear about is perhaps a stolen laptop or bike, and that is only because people get too comfortable here and leave their belongings unattended for long periods of time. The blue light phones are reliable and reassuring even though I've never seen them actually used for an emergency.

Off Campus
There are many good neighborhoods very near the University of Rochester. Park Avenue is a very popular place, and its very convenient to our bus lines, but can get a bit expensive. The 19th Ward is improving in quality, although some people feel a bit threatened if they stray too far from the main drags. Overall, its fun to get a feel of off-campus living, and its much cheaper.

Lots to Do
There are many festivals locally held throughout every season, so you are never bored. Rochester has many art galleries, science museums, a planetarium, and Indie movie theater, plenty of concert halls, and many historical sites for visitors to see. Never is there a dull moment, as long as you take the time to figure out what is going on and experience it.

Personality
The best thing about the University of Rochester is that we have a personality. Everyone is different, but as a whole, everyone works together to create a really positive academic and social environment. Never is there a dull moment or hostility, something is always going on. Although there are so many other good things about our university, the best is the healthy environment.
