Local Atmosphere at University of South Carolina

A-

Downtown Columbia Is a Great City

There are several things to do on campus as well as off of campus during the week and on weekends for students. Many students go to 5-Points or the Vista to hang out with their friends and go to clubs. There are many theaters and events that happen in the Columbia area and there are decent shopping malls that are no more than a 20 minute drive. USC sports are very entertaining and draw large crowds as well.

Campus Housing at University of South Carolina

C

USC Housing Review

I personally do not like living in USC housing. The building I stay in should have been renovated years ago. I have heard stories of students' grandparents who have stayed in the dorm and they say that it looks exactly the same, which is a huge concern. The rules are too strict about males staying in the dorm as well. The bathrooms are supposed to be cleaned everyday, but the showers and stalls are still found dirty. Students get along well on the hall and the dorms are located in convenient spots to easily get to classes and food halls. I am moving off of campus next semester because housing is too expensive for the quality of living.

Campus Strictness at University of South Carolina

A

Read the Rules!

The campus has strict policies on conduct for the women's dormitories, academic consequences, and following the Carolina Creed. Consequences include being written up, having to do community service, attending workshops, as well as being suspended or even expelled from the university and students are expected to go online and read the handbooks on their own to know the rules and are still held responsible regardless.
