During elections everyone is people friendly and trying to get have a better understanding of students ideas. After the positions have been filled and election is over you never see them again. If they only put as much effort as they did running into maintaining a good relationships with students. That would help them have an understanding of what is really needed by the students.
Social Service Clubs – I joined a club of the Men of Aztlan, there foundation is based on brotherhood. You spend a semester doing activities to join the club and at the end of that semester they tell you if you made it or not. Joining a club can be very helpful in making friends, getting scholarships, completing volunteer service. If you ever needed help with anything you can always call the members of the club and they are more than happy to help! Its like a family away from your family, everyone is so tight knit, it feels like brother and sisters.
Be Proactive – I was lucky enough to have Financial Aid cover all my expenses. The most important part is to get your papers in on time. I recently visited the Financial Aid office for advice about loans, but to my surprise there was no help. If you will be a returning student they are happy to help you and usually they will help with any questions or confusion. When i went into the office i was denied help because i was accepted to a school and transferring, so i was given no advice. Prior to this experience they have always been helpful and helped me with any questions. You have to be proactive and research grants, scholarships because they wont sit there and explain every single grant that's available. So, the responsibility is soley put on the student.
