Large Campus, Beautiful Campus

UW is great. It's such a beautiful campus. There are older buildings that remain intact, some of them renovated, and in recent years there has been an increase in modern architecture. I love the mixture of old and new, how UW has managed to keep some of the things that remind us of its history, but also erect newer buildings that give the campus an eclectic feel. There's more to the aesthetics than just the buildings. There's the quad with the cherry blossom trees that bloom in the spring, which is perfect because tons of people hang out their in the spring and summer. There's Drumheller fountain that shoots water up in the air and depending on where you are standing near it and if it's a clear day you have an amazing view of Mt. Rainier. In the five years I was there I saw huge amounts of visitors throughout the school year. There were kids from grade school, high school students, international groups of students and adults, families walking around taking pictures, and I've even witnessed people participating in weddings on campus to get their photo shots taken there. UW is great in many ways and thousands of people are on it almost every day. It's not only a great place to study at, but it's a lovely place to just walk around and take in all the variety of scenery that keeps people coming back and allures many new visitors into the welcoming world that is UW.

School Pride

UW has a lot of school pride and spirit. People wear their purple and gold proud especially for football games because the stadium is so huge that so many people can participate. The marching band gets pretty involved by playing around campus and getting people riled up for games. Obviously not everyone is into sports, but I think a lot of people have husky pride in general because of how great the school is and the teams have been pretty successful in the past anyways so even if you're not into sports you can understand why the school pride has been so traditional.

Transportation at University of Washington

B

There's a Range

While a lot of people have cars on campus, it's not necessary. Seattle has other ways of getting around that are less costly. There's the public transportation system. Many of the buses around campus run often and the husky pass/card makes it easy to pay for your rides (you just show your card). There's also Zip Car spots on and around campus-- you sign up, pay, and borrow a car for however long you need it, for instance, a few hours for moving purposes. On campus parking is expensive so it's better to get around it if you can.
