West Texas Charm
West Texas definitely has its own culture. If you come from a big city it takes some getting used to, but if you can adapt you'll never want to leave. Lubbock is considered "Hub City" because it is the biggest city for many people in west Texas and New Mexico so there are always people coming and going. The college area of Lubbock is awesome! It is definitely a different atmosphere than downtown Lubbock. It is a great place for students to live because the cost of living is very inexpensive. Texas Tech is a Big 12 school so they also have the best of the best of sports. On football game days the whole town shuts down to attend. I have never seen an entire city so passionate about football! West Texas has the best sunsets you will ever see. West Texas charm is something someone needs to experience.

Professors Care About Your Learning Experience
Texas Tech has many students, but still manages to keep upper level class sizes down in the Biology department. This really allows you to develop a relationship with the professors. They are all there to help you learn and see you succeed. The student has to put in the effort to get to know the professor, and if you do, it definitely has its benefits. College professors are great for letters of recommendation for higher level education and all professors are willing to write them. The biology program is great!

Sense of Community
Since Texas Tech is the only big university in the area there is such a strong sense of community between the students and the Lubbock locals. Everyone watches out for each other, it really feels like a big family. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, it is an awesome experience.
