The Potential of URI
URI could be one of the most fun and enjoyable party schools on the east coast given the amount and general "laissiz faire" attitude of most students, however, the campus suffers from being located smack-dab in the middle of nowhere with the closest town, which has little fun to be had in it, ten minutes away. If you don't have access to a car, don't go to URI. The campus is built on a large hill so regardless if you're a commuting student or resident, you have to prepare for a mountain trek to get to class. That being said, the people and most of the professors are smart yet extremely intelligent. There is a lot to be learned at URI but the administration has to be open to learn from the students.

Diversity in the Smallest State
For diversity, the students at URI may surprise you. The campus has an extremely diverse population of different races, religions, cultures and sexual orientations. There are very few problems and for example, a couple of years ago there was a large protest in the library for about a week concerning the rights of the gay, lesbian and bisexual transgender center.
