Dangerous Reputation Untrue
In Northern Virginia, ODU is believed to have a "dangerous" or even "ghetto" reputation. After attending ODU for the past semester, I found this to be untrue. The off-campus neighborhoods are mostly made up of students, young people, and even families. I have been walking home alone in the middle of night several times a week since I moved here, and I am yet to see or experience any trouble. I feel extremely safe on-campus at all times, and as long as you stay aware of your surrounding off-campus, you should be fine.

New Dorms Are Fantastic
I live in the Virginia House, which is part of the new quad at ODU. It is by far the nicest dorm I have seen out of all the other colleges I have visited. I have a large, carpeted common room with a flat screen TV, PS3, couch, arm chairs, table, refrigerator, and microwave. I share a large bathroom with only my roommate (most other studnets on my floor have a single room). The VA house is located in the center of campus, a two minute walk to the gym, convenience store, and university center.
