How is the workload?

It really depends on the classes you take. I think college is managable as long as you have good study and time manangement skills.

It depends a lot on your major. Being a music major or a science major requires a heavier workload than say, psychology.

Appalachian State University Parking had a new discussion posted by JCrane

How much does it cost to park your car for the year as a Freshman on the off campus parking lot?

$204 for a permit that's valid for Fall, Spring, and Summer (if you choose to take summer session).

I'm guessing Winter is included as well?

App doesn't offer a winter term, but yes you can keep it there over winter break.

Do students attend and get hyped about basketball games or other athletic events other than football?

Definitely! Although football is obviously the biggest athletic attraction lots of students are really into the other sports as well.

So is there a high attendance at basketball games? I am really siked for that!

yes they do their student section is a amazing lol

Usually football gets all the attention, but Basketball games still get packed thanks to the fact that students go for free. Also a lot more people started showing up for baseball last year when they had a really good season, and since they've beaten #8 NC State it looks like it's going to be another good year

Just don't expect too much winning if you go to a basketball game. You'll actually want to see the women's team for that, they had a great season.

I was waitlisted with a 1550 SAT and a 3.4 unweighted GPA. I have contacted people at the Admissions office at App, explaining to them how App is my top choice. I also have my guidance counselor and the Dean of students writing me a recommendation. Do you think this will raise my chances of getting accepted?

I am in the same boat as you.

Do you generally have the same scores and GPA and did you contact the admissions office?

If you got good grades your first semester of senior year, send those to the admissions office, that will help. The recommendations will too, but don't contact them too much.

Thanks so much! I'm happy to say I got in.

Congratulations!

Does App have an attractive student body and how are the parties? What else is there to do for fun?

fairly attractive student body. Parties have been better in previous years.

App is a very health-minded school overall, so for the aspect of fitness, the student body seems to be physically fit. I cannot advise you about the parties, however, since I do not often go to events not put on by school-affiliated organizations.

Can anyone tell me about UNCC's communications program?

I've heard that it is a good program. I have a good friend that graduate with a communication degree and went on to pursue a career in radio.

I was accepted into UNC Charlotte. Is this school expected to be be a commuter school again next year, or do you expect that will change with the addition of the football team? Also how are the academics and how is the overall experience?

It's heavily commuter oriented. Expect football to increase the price of the limited parking in the upcoming years

I think it will stay a commuter school for a little while. what usually happens is it gets everyone excited about football at the school, but the program takes a few years to establish itself. If you look at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, you will see what I am talking about. eventually, UNC Charlotte could grow from having a football team and become not so much of a commuter school.

How is the broadcasting program at App?

I don't know about the program itself, but I do know that the university just put a lot of money into the new Broadcasting center to make sure that students have the very best equipment.

WASU, the campus radio station, was named the MTV college station of the year.
