Local Atmosphere at Northwestern University

B+

Chill

Evanston is a great place and very close to campus. Usually a ten minute walk with a lot of great restaurants. There isn't much to at night though. If you're underaged there is the keg and if you are of age there is nevin's. The local people of Evanston are not to fond of the students because of the parties. Overall the local atmosphere is a chill place with a lot to do just nothing overly exciting.

Weather at Northwestern University

C

BAD

Chicago has great weather for two months of the year in july and august so when no one is there. The winter is brutal and doesn't really get warm until mid to late april if you're lucky. Sometimes it doesn't get warm until may , which sucks because school is over in the first week of june. You also get there in september and it starts to get cold in October. It also rains a lot when it isn't snowing. When it is nice weather the beach if awesome and everyone goes out. Only really nice in september and most of spring quarter.

Inside Scoop at Northwestern University

A-

Chicago

Northwestern is extremely close to Chicago so it gives northwestern the advantage of having a campus feel and having a city feel as well. Northwestern also has a great co-op program and career services center that help people find jobs in chicago.

Drug Safety at Northwestern University

B+

It's Not a Big Deal

There are drugs. It's not huge but there are some drugs. Almost everything you could want, but if you don't want to see them then you don't have to. Alcohol is huge. Everybody who goes out drinks and goes to bar. I'd say the biggest drug is weed and is pretty easy to find.

Academics at Northwestern University

A

LOC

Learning and organizational chance with a minor in political science and business institutions. LOc is very cool it is basically a pre-business pre-consulting major with a minor opportunity built in. It is also one of the only majors that requires an internship and during that quarter as long as you don't get fired you get an A for the quarter. Its a pretty sweet deal. It is in the school of education and social policy, which has the most helpful advisors and professors. The workload is manageable and most people go into business with this degree. What business depends on your concentration which is 11 classes, which is why it's so easy to get a major for the price of a major and a minor. If you major is this you will spend a lot of time in annenberg, which is one of the nicest buildings on campus.

Campus Dining at Northwestern University

B+

Sargent

There are a lot of dining hall options and most dorms have one. The biggest dinning halls are in Alison and Sargent. The variety isn't the greatest. It's typical dorm food. Sargent is the most social dining hall because it is on north campus where all the parties happen and is next to BOB and the frat quad and across the street from Elder which combined make up most of the party scene on campus. Alison is the nicest place to eat, but the problem is it is on south campus and most people want to live north. It also has the most diversity.

Off-Campus Housing at Northwestern University

B-

A Lot There but Not Very Nice

almost everyone lives off campus as an upperclassman. Evanston is a huge residential area so there are houses and apartments galore that aren't very far off campus. Most are no more than a 5-10 minute walk away. The off campus options, while abundant, aren't the nicest. They are pretty typical college houses or apartments if they are for rent. They tend to have a lot of rooms and are kept livable. Many have extremely odd structures. it is very convenient but can cost a lot. average rent is anywhere from 600-900 a month. Parking is the worst. It cost a lot and you can't even park on campus unless you are an upperclassman and the parking isn't even close to any buildings. cars are a burden if you go to nu. I give it a B- because there are a lot of off campus options but few nice and parking is awful.

Guys & Girls at Northwestern University

C+

Girls Are Average

Girls at NU aren't anything to brag about, and I'm sure the girls would say the same about the guys. there are the occasional hotties but they are few and far between, and usually they know they are hot by northwestern's standards. Most girls go out with their sororities and stay in those bunches. One night stands happen often if that's what you are looking for. Northwestern moves too fast and the quarters are too short to expect much to really happen with dating. There is few is any dating options. It just doesn't happen. Girls can be pretentious but can also be awesome. I've never been to another school and been able to talk to a girl like I can at northwestern. They get in for a reason. In all honesty there is nothing to write home about when it comes to the opposite sex. Then again that is not why a person comes to NU. There is lot of diversity when it comes to girls. The guys are diverse to. Most guys are fairly average as well.
